Participants will learn how to use various woodshop equipment safely, the required PPE, and how to measure and set up the machines. They will create a simple cutting or charcuterie board to take home.
Participants will learn plumbing dos & don’ts, how to hire a plumber (questions to ask and red flags), how to avoid plumbing problems, and how to do some easy repairs: unclogging a sink and toilet, fixing the sink plug, replacing a toilet, changing the toilet flush valve, changing a facet, garbage disposal maintenance, and jams, installing a sink soap dispenser and how to use an electric snake safely.

If you have a project to start or finish and need space to work on it, the Makers Hub will provide various woodworking tools, open space, and a volunteer expert to oversee the space. We have table saws, drill presses, sliding chop saws, planer, jointer, router, disk & belt sander, panel saw, and assembly benches. You can borrow hand tools from the Tool Library as well. You must call to reserve your time; please call us at 424-785-8457. We limit 4 members/hour to use the space. So please include how many hours you would like to use the space. Basic woodworking skills are necessary to participate, and tool safety knowledge and PPE are required. Adults only.
Makers with no prior experience will be able to successfully and safely operate a sewing machine. You will learn to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, and understand thread/stitch tension, width, and length. You’ll engage in a hands-on sewing activity that will help familiarize you with basic sewing tools and terminology.
Makers who know how to successfully and safely operate a sewing machine will learn to sew a tote bag and other simple seams. You will learn how to improve your ability to sew basic seams. Using this knowledge, you’ll be able to sew a simple tote bag to take home!

Learn the different ways to print designs and pictures on a variety of materials. Join this comprehensive workshop for hands-on practice using the equipment to print on a tote, mug, or T-shirt for your very own take-home craft. (If you want to use your own graphic instead of ours, the artwork must be sent to us in PNG format, 300 DPI, so we can size it to fit the garment at least one day before the class to sam@themakershub.org.
Improve your photo-taking skills taught by a professional Photographer – https://www.interstellarimage.com/. Learn about camera types and settings and the basics of composition. Engage in hands-on practice that explores camera settings and framing techniques. Find your inspiration and improve your creativity!
Participants will learn terminology, types of tools, substrates, grouts, and tiles. They will also learn how to use manual and power tile saws. They will learn how to prepare surfaces for tiling, tile a flat floor (cut tile for inside and outside corners and plumb the first line of tile against a wall.), and a flat wall against a floor or counter. They will learn how to measure and maintain the project level. They will learn how to apply substrate (hardiboard), thin-set, use tile and spacers, and how to grout and finish.
The class will not teach how to demo existing flooring or surfaces.
