Who We Are

We believe access to tools, hands-on skills, and creative space should not be a privilege, but a shared community resource. The Makers Hub is a nonprofit tool lending library and makerspace rooted in Compton, created to remove financial and structural barriers to learning. We provide affordable access to tools, workshops, and equipment so individuals of all ages can build, repair, create, and grow.

Through hands-on workshops in woodworking, sewing, laser cutting, 3D printing, electrical basics and other skilled trades, we create pathways for practical skill-building and creative exploration. We also partner with local schools such as Compton High School and Lifeline Charter School to bring workshops directly to students — giving young people early exposure to trade skills, creative technology, and entrepreneurial thinking.

Our space is more than a building! It is a safe, welcoming environment where confidence is built alongside practical skills. Through shared learning, mentorship, and access to industry-grade equipment, we help transform curiosity into capability and capability into opportunity.

Our Vision

Our vision is to develop a much larger, fully equipped makerspace and tool library in Compton with dedicated sections for woodworking, sewing, fabrication, laser cutting, 3D printing, digital fabrication and skilled trades. We envision a space where individuals can focus deeply on the craft of their choosing, develop mastery, and build projects for personal growth or business development.

By expanding access to space, tools, and training, we aim to revitalize the city of Compton by empowering local entrepreneurs to launch and grow their businesses within the community — strengthening the local economy and building long-term community wealth.

Who We Are

The Makers Hub is a space where creativity, skill, and community rise together. Where anyone can learn, build, repair, and create.

As we grow, we envision Compton energized by the ideas and talents of its residents. New businesses take root. Homes and community spaces are renewed. People discover what they can do with the right tools, the right support, and a place that believes in them.

We empower our community by making access possible. Access to tools. Access to hands-on learning. Access to opportunity.

Together, we are creating a space that reflects the power and imagination of Compton.

Our Commitment to Transparency

Everything we do at The Makers Hub is rooted in trust. We believe people deserve to understand how their shared space operates.

That means open books, open conversations, and open communication about what we are doing and why.

We listen first. We decide with you. And we share the results openly so you can trust that every resource, every program, and every new idea is shaped by the community it serves.
