Upcoming Events in May 2025:

Participants will learn terminology, types of tools, substrates, grouts, and tiles. They will also learn how to use manual and power tile saws. They will learn how to prepare surfaces for tiling,  tile a flat floor (cut tile for inside and outside corners and plumb the first line of tile against a wall.), and a flat wall against a floor or counter. They will learn how to measure and maintain the project level. They will learn how to apply substrate (hardiboard), thin-set, use tile and spacers, and how to grout and finish.  

The class will not teach how to demo existing flooring or surfaces.

Create your very own trinket, charm, or bowl out of stoneware clay in our freeform hand-building workshop. Learn and practice basic hand-building techniques and explore creating with clay! Makers who attend with workshop must schedule a follow-up session to glaze & pick up their final pieces.

New to DIY? Learn how to safely and confidently use power tools. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn professional techniques, how to operate several woodshop machines, and vital safety tips to keep you healthy and handy! You will make a cutting or charcuterie board using all the tools!

Don’t know how to use your Cricut well? Learn how at the Makers Hub by an expert Crafter! Get to know the Cricut, discover new ways to use your machine, and upgrade your home crafts. Learn tips, tricks, and troubleshooting in this comprehensive workshop.

If you have a project to start or finish and need space to work on it, the Makers Hub will provide various woodworking tools, open space, and a volunteer expert to oversee the space. We have table saws, drill presses, sliding chop saws, planer, jointer, router, disk & belt sander, panel saw, and assembly benches. You can borrow hand tools from the Tool Library as well. You must call to reserve your time; please call us at 424-785-8457. We limit 4 members/hour to use the space. So please include how many hours you would like to use the space. Basic woodworking skills are necessary to participate, and tool safety knowledge and PPE are required. Adults only.

Learn the basics of electrical maintenance for the home. In this workshop, you’ll learn basic terminology and circuitry, how to repair/replace simple electrical components, and how to install a recessed light fixture. Understand how your home works and know when to call an electrician.
