
Tiling
Participants will learn terminology, types of tools, substrates, grouts, and various types of tiles. They will also learn how to use manual and power tile saws. They will learn how to prepare surfaces for tiling, tile a floor (cut tile for inside and outside corners and plumb the first line of tile against a wall), and a flat wall against a floor or counter. They will learn how to measure and maintain the project level. They will learn how to apply substrate (hardboard), thin-set, apply tile and spacers, and how to grout and finish. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, hair tied up, no loose jewelry. (Free to Compton Residents who qualify under CDBG Requirements)
